Advance to the Global Grand Finale of Startup World Cup 2018 in Silicon Valley to compete for the main prize – an investment of $1,000,000! All projects from the regional TOP 50 will also compete for the Fundlift Award. Three startups will be showcased on the Czech investment/crowdfunding platform Fundlift, where they can receive a financial bonus of up to $200,000.

Chris Abshire is on the investment team at Fenox Venture Capital, where he manages the US due diligence process and market research activities. He also is the Executive Director of Startup World Cup, a platform that creates innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities for startup ecosystems all over the world.

David Semerád has grown his mobile and digital app development company, STRV, from a small startup in 2004 to a thriving company serving top startups in Silicon Valley as well as Fortune 500 brands. David’s work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Wired and TechCrunch.

Václav Pavlečka
Air Ventures

Co-Founder & CEO

Václav Pavlečka is connecting the world of innovations and startups with marketing. He is a founder of startup fund and accelerator Air Ventures. In 2014, he was behind the establishment of a Prague branch of Chicago innovation hub Farmhouse, before that he was working with American clients with his own agency called Kliché Killers in New York.

Vítek Šubert

Co-Founder & CEO

Vítek Šubert has worked mainly on top management positions in the areas of strategy, sales, marketing and products at international technology companies such as O2, Dell and LG Electronics. He has actively participated in UP21 since its establishment as a mentor of startups and director of the Main Board. In October 2016 he has become a Partner of UP21.

Matej Majerčák
Mayfair Assets

Investment Board Member & Partner

Matej Majerčák has over 17 years of investment experience in the CEE region. He plays a vital role in Mayfair Assets as a member of its investment board. Matej is also a founding partner of the investment advisory firm MiddleCap and has vast experience in M&A from KPMG, Deloitte, and CBRE.

Volker Hirsch

Advisor & Angel Investor

Volker is an entrepreneur, angel investor & advisor. He is a co-founder of Blue Beck, the founder of Quantified Ventures, a Venture Partner at Emerge Education, and the Chairman of Bibblio. He also acts as a board member and/or advisor to another seven companies in EdTech, IoT, Travel, Advertising and Gaming.

The seventh juror in selecting the absolutely best project at the Startup World Cup & Summit will be all SWCS visitors voting through the D21 system.

Anyone who has set up a company or a startup project can apply by registering and then completing the entry form. Participation is free of charge.

Project Details

After registering, we will email you more information about the competition and a copy of your application, for your confirmation. You'll also be asked to provide more details about your project, which will be used during the selection process.

TOP 50 Assessment

An expert jury will evaluate all registered projects and select the most promising fifty startups, which will be given free access to the Startup World Cup & Summit and be entered for the Fundlift Award. Nine startups, with the best evaluations, will be automatically shortlisted to the TOP 10, with the final spot reserved for one wild card entrant, which will be selected after all other projects are presented in the Trial Pitch Zone.


The TOP 10 startups will showcase their projects on the main stage of the SWCS, with the winner advancing to the San Francisco Grand Finale where they'll have the opportunity to win an investment of $1,000,000. The winner of the Startup World Cup Regional Finale will be selected by an expert jury panel, consisting of industry leaders and startup veterans.
