The Student Startup Battle, powered by Česká spořitelna, is a unique opportunity for students with a promising startup project to stand out and compete at this year’s Startup World Cup & Summit!

Who is the Student Startup Battle for?
Are you a full-time student with a startup project you want to see come to fruition? If so, then the Student Startup Battle is the perfect opportunity for you to put your project to the test in an effort to win valuable experience and a special prize from the SWCS organizers!
All applications will be reviewed and the top 2 projects will be identified and qualify for the competition. The 2 finalists will have the opportunity to present their business ideas in front of SWCS visitors and an expert jury on the Inspiration Zone powered by Mayfair Assets. The competition will have the 2 teams dueling off in a 1v1 format on stage. The winner of the Student Battle will receive prizes from the SWCS organizers, AirVCS and UP21 (see more details below).
In addition, to help prepare the teams for the competition, they will have the opportunity to participate in a specialized workshop, focused on presentation skills, prior to the event.
How to apply and what are the requirements?
The registration is now closed.
The criteria for being selected for the Student Startup Battle are the following:
- The project lead (i.e. individual listed on the application) must be enrolled as a full-time high school or college/university student
- The project must have a basic business plan (i.e. description of the problem, customer, product and market)
The project have received maximum of 30.000 euros in investment to date.
What can you win?
Incubation in the Air Ventures accelerator
This 14-day incubation program in the Air Ventures accelerator includes development and feedback provided via workshops and individual meetings. The program will focus on:
- Developing a business model
- Building a team
- Pitching your project
A partnership can be extended in the form of a full project incubation, including an initial investment of $50k.
Incubation date: Q1 2018
The prize is provided for the entire team of the winning project, with the workshops and meetings held within a 14-day period, scheduled in agreement with the winner.
Startup Bootcamp by UP21
This 3-day experience boot camp is led by Jan Nekovář, the co-founder and principal idea maker of UP21 and founder of Evoering. Jan has 15 years of experience developing individuals and startups and has given trainings to more than 10,000 participants.
What does the bootcamp offer?
- You will gain insights into various aspects of the startup life and see your project from a new perspective
- You will receive valuable feedback and new ideas
- You will break down barriers, better understand your own capabilities, learn to work effectively in a team, and hone core leadership qualities including listening, inspiring, and networking
- You will be surrounded by inspiring, knowledgeable CEOs and industry veterans who are working with or being incubated by UP21
The bootcamp will take place at “Rohan”, a unique training and co-working center near the town of Pacov, situated in the picturesque countryside of the Vysočina mountains.

The prize is provided for the member of the winning team who presented the project.
Student Startup Battle Jury
Martin Kulík started his business in finance at the age of 18. Now he is enjoying events like T-Mobile Rozjezdy, Startup Grind, MashUp, Brain & Breakfast, Startup World Cup & Summit and others, where he represents Česká spořitelna. There he takes care of the start-up entrepreneurs as well as the long-running companies.
Director of Marketing and Communications
Roman Maco is the head of Marketing and Communication in KPMG. Before that he worked in Socialbakers, run Marketing Communications team in Česká spořitelna and GE Money bank.
Flavia (Barbat) Anghel, Brandura International
As Editor-in-Chief of both top branding journal Brandingmag and Branding.news, Flavia is the go-to person for editorial dexterity. She founded Brandura International, a company encompassing marketing editorial expertise, and many experiential conferences.
David moved to Silicon Valley after dropping out of grad school in Shanghai in 2015. Prior to starting Rapid.io, David lead business development at STRV.
Jana Eckstein leads the crowdfunding portal hithit.com, where they already launched over 1,700 projects from various industries. She will best advise you on reward based crowdfunding, which is what you know from Hithit.cz or from Kickstarter.com.
