SWC CONTEST TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The event is organized by Up In The Air, s.r.o. (a joint venture of UP21 and Air Ventures), a company with registered office at Pernerova 676/51, Prague 8, post code: 186 00, company ID: 06160328; registered in the Commercial Register of the Municipal Court in Prague, section C, file 277252 (hereinafter referred to as “the Organizer”).
The event referred to in these rules is the V4 Regional Finale, European Semifinale & European Continental Finale competition of the international “Startup World Cup” contest held in Prague in the Czech Republic. Event is intended for legal entities (hereinafter also referred to as “the Participant”). Each Participant has a chance to present their idea (hereinafter referred to as “Startup”) by filling out a form available at the following website: swcsummit.com. All entries will be evaluated by an official jury and shortlisted projects will then be presented by the corresponding Participants in person at the SWCSummit event in the Pragovka Prague. More details about the event and its organization are available at the event website under section “SWC Contest”: swcsummit.com/contest.
3. Event Dates and Registration
Participation in the event begins with the registration of a competing legal entity (a company registered in a commercial register). The next stage is the competition itself. Participants can register for the competition from November 4, 2019. The end of registration is on September 17, 2020. The jury will then have 7 days to judge the entries, and the projects shortlisted for the V4 Regional Finale event will be announced. V4 Regional Finale will take place on October 13, 2020 in Prague.
European Semifinale & European Continental Finale will take place on October 14, 2020 on main event Startup World Cup & Summit in the Pragovka Prague.
Registering for the V4 Regional Finale contest:
Participants are required to register by completing a form available on the event website (contest.swcsummit.com) and expressing their consent with their participation in the event as well as with these event rules. After deadline of registration, every application will be reviewed by committee, consisting of investors and industry leaders. Each Participant will be contacted through e-mail by a representative of the Up In The Air or UP21 or Air Ventures company (a Startup coordinator), who will provide further details on their registration for the competition.
4. Event Participants
Under the terms and conditions set out by these rules, event Participants are legal entities established in accordance with the laws of the corresponding country that register their Startups. Prospective Participants also need to truthfully complete all the information required by the registration form. If any of the data provided by a Participant in the form prove untrue, their team will be disqualified without entitlement to any reward.
5. Event Mechanism
Participants can register for the V4 Regional Finale from November 4, 2019 till September 17, 2020. After deadline of registration, the jury will select the best 12 projects that will be invited to Prague on October 13 to pitch. The winning startup of V4 Regional Finale will get to Grand Finale in Silicon Valley.
Alongside winning startup, jury will select 1 another startup, called “wild card”. Both winning startup and wild card from V4 Regional Finale will get the chance to compete in European Semifinale taking place on the next day, October 14 at main event Startup World Cup & Summit. During European Semifinale respected jury will select TOP 7 startups, which will have a chance to compete in European Continental Finale, taking place on the same day, October 14, 2020.
An expert jury will evaluate all registered projects and select 12 the most promising startups, which will be given free access to the Startup World Cup & Summit. The Startup pitching events will take place on October 13 - 14, 2020.
Winner of V4 Regional Finale will get the opportunity to take part in the European Semifinale held on October 14. Winner of V4 Regional Finale will also automatically get opportunity to take part in Grand Finale in Silicon Valley, the grand prize being an investment in the amount of $1,000,000.
Winning startup of European Continental Finale will get the European Champion Title and win a $500,000 investment prize from UP21 and Air Ventures. It will either be in exchange for a portion of equity, related to the most recent round of funding, or a convertible note, depending on the size of the company and how much funding they have raised. The European Champion will get all the media coverage, and go home with a flight ticket to the global Grand Finale of the Startup World Cup in Silicon Valley.
Other prizes will be gradually announced on the event website at http://swcsummit.com/.
7. Information about the Event
Information about the event will be published on social media: on the event’s Facebook profile @swcsummit and @UP21incubator and @Airventuresspace and @Airvcs, Twitter profile @swcsummit and @up21incubator, and Instagram profile @UP21incubator. The information will also appear in other selected media over the course of the event. Detailed information is available on the event website at swcsummit.com.
8. General Terms and Condition
Participants advancing to the V4 Regional Finale in Prague will be informed by e-mail or telephone.
Winners will be announced publicly on the main stage on the day of the event and social media.
The list of winners will be available on the event website, social media and at the registered office of the Organizer.
The Organizer reserves the right to decide on their own discretion in all matters related to the organization of the event, especially the right to extend, stop or cancel the competition, change the rules of the competition or reject all submitted projects, all without giving any reason. Any such decision shall come into effect on the day of its posting on the event website.
The Organizer shall have the right to definitively disqualify any competitor if the Organizer suspects the competitor of achieving their results in the competition by acting fraudulently or otherwise in contradiction with morals and provided that such actions could affect the results of the competition. Such decision of the Organizer shall be final and without appeal.
The Organizer shall be the controller within the meaning of the GDPR.
Should reasonable doubts arise concerning the fulfilment of conditions for participation in the event or the entitlement to a prize, the final decision on the specific cases of participation in the event and/or entitlement to a prize shall be made by a CMO employed with the Organizer.
The rules of the event shall be available at the registered office of the Organizer and on the event website.
All information provided by the Organizer to the Participants in relation to the organization and progress of the event shall be considered confidential and shall not be made accessible or otherwise disclosed to any third party with the exception of information that were known to the public at the moment of their provision to the Participants or that were provided to the Participants by a third party.
The Participants shall especially maintain confidentiality of the abovementioned confidential information that they will learn during their collaboration with the Organizer and this obligation shall continue to apply even after the event has ended.
